D-Day

We leave today, but last night we all had dinner together. It was a great night out and we celebrated Andy’s birthday then too. It got us a free cake at Olive Garden. (Just kidding, the server tried to do that but I told him that I said it to bring Erin out of a foul mood.) We had so much fun last night the table next to us were dragged into the fun. and the server said that we were the best table that he’s served in a long time. Since I made his day, I felt that I didn’t have to tip him. JK.

Nina’s car is loaded and I’m just waiting for her to finish getting ready so we can leave. I just checked online and saw that all is according to schedule. I can’t wait for dinner on the plane, airline food is the best. We arrive in London around 8 a.m.

T – 30 hours

  • Rain is predicted for today.
  • Posted a funny FB meme in “vulgar”.
  • Banking today.
  • Erin is home after 10 days. I sure missed her.
  • She’s glad she’s home.
  • We’re glad she’s home before we leave.
  • She spent the night here. She fell asleep in her bed (yes we have a bed here for her) and I woke this morning with her knee in my back.  Makes me wonder why we have a bed here for her.
  • My back is bothering me today, can’t figure out why.
  • I added something under the Erin tab.  “my room”
  • This morning I’ve suffered through over 10 political ads. I hate the political season. Too bad it’s not more like hunting season.
  • Dropped my bike off at Harley yesterday. It will live there during our trip where they will do a couple of mods, add a garage door opener that works off the high beam switch, and add an audible burglar alarm. I’ve caught people sitting on my bike twice and the audible will stop that. The mods? Headers and pipes. These will reduce the felt heat, get rid of the catalytic converter, give me better milage and keep a near stock sound.
  • On the trip into Santa Fe yesterday, it 55° when I left and it was one of the most comfortable rides I have taken on the bike. It makes my thoughts of a road trip to Chicago in October seem like an even better idea than I thought.
  • We did Harry’s Roadhouse for breakfast yesterday. Nina had something with spinach and I had trout, bacon, and eggs. Great food, tiny little freaking tables. You can’t read a newspaper while there. When you’re as popular as Harry’s is, you have to jam the customers in every little shitty corner you can I guess.
  • Marylou goes to the nursing home today! YAY! She’ll stay there for 3 weeks. We told her that our vacation is 3 weeks so that we’d have an extra week without her. I know, we’re scum for lying to an old lady.
  • Speaking about ML, yesterday she was telling me about when she was last in London and while she didn’t remember the date, it HAD to be around 10 years ago. Winston Churchill had just left power and she saw people kneeling to a passing piece of royalty and when she didn’t even acknowledge the guy, she was dressed down by a local since the guy was a duke. She told him that she only knelt before God and would kneel before no man. Since Churchill left the PM office in ’55 and died in ’65, I was so tempted to tell her that it had to be just a little longer than 10 years ago since she was in London. I decided to let her just finish the story so I wouldn’t have to listen to her any longer.
  • ML looks like a skeleton that hasn’t decomposed yet. Her hospice nurse feels that she is still healthy though and is fine staying here, but we shouldn’t be surprised if she passes soon.
Over thinking shit kills your happiness.

Love WiFi

I’m sitting on the deck gazing over the mesa that was missing yesterday, because of the fog, watching the full moon through wispy clouds. I am in awe at the absolute beauty of the area where I live. I wish a picture could do this justice, but experience tells me not to bother.

Sometimes music is all you need to make you feel better.

New drop Down

I just added a new drop down. It will contain profane and vulgar things that you may or may not wish to see. It’s on the far right of the links bar and properly labeled as VULGAR.

For the most part it will contain off-color and profane videos, memes, and jokes, items that I would rather not share in my general feed. Now you can choose to view or not view the postings that are vulgar. I will list any new postings in my feed when I add one, but it will be up to you to view it.

Rowe Mesa is GONE!

I woke this morning to the mesa across the highway from us having disappeared. Fog and/or low hanging clouds have obscured the mesa from our view.

The mesa should go al the way to the top of this photo!
The mesa should go al the way to the top of this photo!

It’s been a while since we’ve not seen the mesa every morning. I can’t even see the bar from my deck right now.

I’ll drive just fine in snow, heavy rain, darkness, but fog just scares the shit outta me. I HATE driving in fog, even with fog lights.

Photography

This week I saw half a dozen people taking pictures of our place. Tourists I’m guessing, but since I see this place daily I’m always amazed by the photographers taking pictures of our little slice of heaven.

I think that I should give the people my card and ask them to send me copies of the pictures and post them on my business website. I can see if it generates some interest in more people stopping here.

I know that a lot of the photogs are European by their accents, but there’s American tourists that do so too. It may be the hummers, of which we have many, that have them reaching for their cameras, or it could be this type of place is a dying breed of business. “Roadside America” type of place? Who knows?

While we have always been fairly popular with touring motorcyclists, this year has seen more foreigners on bikes stopping in and fueling up. It makes me wonder if we’ve made some sort of a tourist guide.

Have a great weekend everyone!
I’m looking forward to Erin returning to us tomorrow!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

I changed the links for this blog. I’ve added drop-down menus that will allow you to see only the items you wish and you can skip the stuff you’ve already viewed.

I returned my king sized throne to the front room. While we removed it because it was more dominating than the couch, I brought it back because of my coccyx pain. Softer and more roomy and it gives Erin more room to cuddle with me. It does need a good cleaning though. I do sit higher in this than my other chair.

Joan Rivers is dead. Big deal. Why are we supposed to get all weepy over the death of a celebrity? They live, they die. They earn, they die. They entertain, they die. They/we all die. I’m not going to mourn her, or any other celeb for that matter.

Erin

Erin returns to us on Sunday. She spent the week at the Hern’s place. She’s less than happy going there now and that pleases me sorta. I know I shouldn’t be so damned catty, but I’m not rubbing this in their faces or anything, but I’m still pleased.

Ed Johnson

I’m working on a website for his new venture. Blue Arrow Motors in Diamond Illinois. Still a bit of work needed, but it’s up and running, just waiting for the State of Illinois licensing department approval. The inspector assigned to Ed’s area is on vacation so Ed has to wait. SOS in Illinois.

Air

I’m getting tired of maintaining my air hose and I just bought 3 air chucks to replace the bad one and once they have been trashed I will be out of the air business. I’ll maintain a hose in the garage and let friends use it, but no more public air. People treat this service like shit and I’m sick of it.

If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. If you pick it up it dies and ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation.  ~~Osho~~

I’m starting to get antsy!

We leave on the 9th and we’re meeting people in both the UK and the Netherlands. Martin and Sylvia in the UK and Anna in the Netherlands.

Henry Kissinger is still alive?

I saw a clip of the Kissinger interview just now on the news. He says that “when ISIL beheads 2 Americans and distributes the act world-wide, a measured response is not enough” and I agree. He believes that a massive attack on ALL ISIL targets is called for. I hope I can watch the whole interview, it’s going to be something worth watching!
