{"id":10397,"date":"2016-06-20T00:18:27","date_gmt":"2016-06-20T06:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/the-glen-blog.com\/?p=10397"},"modified":"2016-06-19T16:18:53","modified_gmt":"2016-06-19T22:18:53","slug":"pass-it-on","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/the-glen-blog.com\/?p=10397","title":{"rendered":"Pass it on"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You are critically wounded and dying in the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam .<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s November 11, 1967.<br \/>\nLZ (landing zone) X-ray.<br \/>\nYour unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100 yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the MedEvac helicopters to stop coming in.<br \/>\nYou&#8217;re lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you&#8217;re not getting out.<br \/>\nYour family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you&#8217;ll never see them again.<br \/>\nAs the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.<br \/>\nThen &#8211; over the machine gun noise &#8211; you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter.<br \/>\nYou look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn&#8217;t seem real because no MedEvac markings are on it.<br \/>\nCaptain Ed Freeman is coming in for you.<br \/>\nHe&#8217;s not MedEvac so it&#8217;s not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he&#8217;s flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.<br \/>\nEven after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He&#8217;s coming anyway.<br \/>\nAnd he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board.<br \/>\nThen he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety.<br \/>\nAnd, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!!<br \/>\nUntil all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm.<br \/>\nHe took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey.<br \/>\nMedal of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Air Force, died last Wednesday at the age of 70, in Boise , Idaho<br \/>\nMay God Bless and Rest His Soul.<br \/>\nI bet you didn&#8217;t hear about this hero&#8217;s passing, but we&#8217;ve sure seen a whole bunch about the thug Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin,<br \/>\nThe gov. shut down &#8220;what difference does it make!!!.)<br \/>\nand the bickering of Congress over Health &amp; OBAMA CARE!<br \/>\nBUT ZIP ABOUT THE PASSING OF<br \/>\nMedal of Honor Winner Captain Ed Freeman<br \/>\nShame on the media !!!<br \/>\nNow&#8230; YOU pass this along.<br \/>\nHonor this real hero.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You are critically wounded and dying in the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam .
