{"id":2594,"date":"2013-03-15T08:12:29","date_gmt":"2013-03-15T14:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/the-glen-blog.com\/?p=2594"},"modified":"2013-03-15T08:12:29","modified_gmt":"2013-03-15T14:12:29","slug":"interesting-day-yesterday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/the-glen-blog.com\/?p=2594","title":{"rendered":"Interesting day yesterday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday morning saw me on the road at 7:00 a.m. \u00a0I was expecting to meet with the county manager and Tito Chavez regarding my proposal to combine the advertising efforts of the county and the city. \u00a0I was wrong. \u00a0Both were there, but they were under the impression that I called them to the meeting. <em>\u00a0Right, that happens all the time. \u00a0<\/em>Other people started to arrive. \u00a0People from city government. People that represent a variety of non-profits. \u00a0The chamber of commerce head. \u00a0The former owner of the Plaza Hotel. \u00a0Les, the county manager, and I were both confused. \u00a0Tito seemed nonplussed about these people arriving.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out the advertising director of the city called the meeting. \u00a0She&#8217;s sharp, never let any of us have a clue what was going on until the meeting started. \u00a0The meeting took my proposal and carried it to newer and higher levels. \u00a0Grants. \u00a0Interactive kiosks at the airport and the 3 main entry points to the state. \u00a0FREE business advertising on a state tourism website. \u00a0Joining forces at proportional levels financially. \u00a0This is one sharp cookie.<\/p>\n<p>The non-profit people were severely put out on this proposal. \u00a0It forced them onboard as partners while seriously cutting funding for them doing the same types of things that her proposal does much more efficiently. \u00a0Every objection was met with a rational and reasoned response. \u00a0Chamber chick and Plaza Hotel guy were both fit to be tied by the time the meeting ended and while I&#8217;m not that fond of either of them, my position forces civility with them, so I enjoyed watching them choking on their bile.<\/p>\n<p>Poker last nigh ended with me leaving early. \u00a0I blew my wad and walked out rather than tossing good money after bad. \u00a0I had fun during the game, and Jiminy stopped by the house to look at the gold piece that we found in ML&#8217;s safe deposit box. \u00a0Jiminy, a.k.a.
