{"id":2610,"date":"2013-03-17T10:05:24","date_gmt":"2013-03-17T16:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/the-glen-blog.com\/?p=2610"},"modified":"2013-03-17T10:19:12","modified_gmt":"2013-03-17T16:19:12","slug":"shirley-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/the-glen-blog.com\/?p=2610","title":{"rendered":"Shirley."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Oi vey! \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">A Shirley Update!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, she woke up this morning calling for Armand. \u00a0I came in and got her up, well before he caretaker arrived. \u00a0Covered her legs with a throw and placed her in the living room. \u00a0She asked where Armand was and why he wasn&#8217;t helping her up. \u00a0I told her he was gone, for about 5 to 10 years now. \u00a0(Shirley in quotes, me without.)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Gone? \u00a0Where did he go?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>He&#8217;s dead Shirley.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;How?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>His body just gave out and he died.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Really?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Yes, he died in Santa Fe in the hospice there.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Does Richie know?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Yes, he knew but he&#8217;s gone too.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;No he&#8217;s not, I just talked to him the other day.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Sorry Shirley, but he&#8217;s been gone now for about 4 years. \u00a0He had a heart attack.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Why didn&#8217;t anyone tell me this?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>We did Shirley and that&#8217;s about when you had your first stroke.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I had a stroke?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>You had 4 strokes, maybe more.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Really? \u00a04 strokes? \u00a0Why don&#8217;t I remember?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Strokes affect your memory.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I have a good memory. \u00a0I should remember all this.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>I guess I should go for the trifecta here. \u00a0Anita&#8217;s dead too.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Good, I never liked her. \u00a0You wouldn&#8217;t have liked her either.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Marylou now lives less than 30 minutes from here.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I know, she lived here for a few days and you got rid of her.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>That you remember, but you don&#8217;t remember anything about Armand and Richie passing?<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Nobody told me that they died.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Shit, I tell you everything, good or bad.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Really?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>and on and on and on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What a way to start the day. \u00a0She&#8217;s still sure we never told her any of this, but she mentioned that we probably did it so as not to cause her worry. \u00a0I could go on and it could sound humorous to some, but she was truly confused and it wasn&#8217;t a fun chat.<\/p>\n<p>Nina, I&#8217;m not sure how you would have handled the questions or how you had handled them in the past, but I just told the truth.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s planning on joining me for dinner tuesday evening at Rialto. \u00a0I may just stay home if she insists on coming.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s reading now and seems to enjoy the activity. \u00a0I like talking to her, but it still bothers me that she&#8217;s so confused.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oi vey! \u00a0 A Shirley Update!
