{"id":3229,"date":"2013-06-23T08:29:08","date_gmt":"2013-06-23T14:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/the-glen-blog.com\/?p=3229"},"modified":"2013-06-23T08:30:36","modified_gmt":"2013-06-23T14:30:36","slug":"grabbed-this-from-the-chicks-on-the-right-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/the-glen-blog.com\/?p=3229","title":{"rendered":"Grabbed this from the &#8220;Chicks on the Right&#8221; blog."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I found this to be really spot on.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<h3>So, Paula Deen Got Fired For Saying The &#8220;N&#8221; Word A Long Time Ago&#8230;<\/h3>\n<p>Written by\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chicksontheright.com\/user-profile\/userprofile\/Daisy\" rel=\"author\">Daisy<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a Food Network fan or a foodie or have been watching TV or reading the news at all for the past day and a half, you know that Paula Deen has been fired for being a racist.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not one of those foodie-type people. \u00a0I don&#8217;t spend a lot of time in my kitchen, and usually those cooking folks on TV just make me feel more inadequate when I DO spend time in my kitchen, so I avoid those shows, frankly. \u00a0So yeah &#8211; I know who Paula Deen is, and I know that she&#8217;s 66 years old and from the South, and I know that things may have looked a little different in the south for a 66-year old woman.<\/p>\n<p>Before you jump me, bleeding hearts, I&#8217;m also a believer that using the &#8220;N-word&#8221; &#8211; specifically in this case in the workplace (if that&#8217;s indeed what happened here) &#8211; is without-a-doubt a\u00a0<em>fireable\u00a0<\/em>offense. \u00a0So before we go any further, there you go. \u00a0It&#8217;s inexcusable.<\/p>\n<p>BUT &#8211; and yes, there&#8217;s a big ol&#8217; but here &#8211; I also believe in CONSISTENCY. \u00a0If you say the &#8220;N-word,&#8221; you&#8217;re a giant douchecanoe with issues. \u00a0But if you call a woman a c*nt or a tw*t? \u00a0I believe that&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>just as offensive<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>JUST as fire-worthy<\/strong>, because you have the same issues. \u00a0So let&#8217;s discuss that, shall we? \u00a0Because there seems to be a bit of moral selectivism in this country, and it&#8217;s annoying me.<\/p>\n<p>Case in point: \u00a0I have a great deal of liberal friends on Facebook who have their panties all up in a wad about Paula Deen and her offensive comments (from<strong>\u00a0years ago<\/strong>, mind you, that are apparently fireable offenses\u00a0<em>now<\/em>). \u00a0These are the same people who &#8220;Like&#8221; jackwads like Bill Maher and David Lettermen. \u00a0They\u00a0<strong>LIKE\u00a0<\/strong>him. \u00a0And those guys effortlessly call women c*nts and tw*ts&#8230;because that&#8217;s FUNNY, you see. \u00a0Now, to me &#8211; as a woman &#8211; a man calling a woman those names are as offensive as a white person calling a black person the &#8220;N-word.&#8221; \u00a0They&#8217;re just sexism instead of racism. \u00a0Same thing, though. \u00a0Just a different &#8220;ism.&#8221; \u00a0Yet, I don&#8217;t see my liberal friends on Facebook being OUTRAGED about those men treating women with such horrifying disrespect.<\/p>\n<p>And we all know why, right? \u00a0It&#8217;s because they&#8217;re talking about CONSERVATIVE women in that context. \u00a0And to liberals in this country, conservatives &#8211; especially conservative\u00a0<em>women\u00a0<\/em>&#8211; are second-class citizens. \u00a0We&#8217;re nothing more than the scum on the bottom of a liberal&#8217;s shoe. \u00a0Not EQUAL to them at all, therefore not worthy of the same respect that they&#8217;d give &#8216;their own kind,&#8217; yes?<\/p>\n<p>Kinda sounds a bit like a familiar civil rights struggle back in the 60s, huh?<\/p>\n<p>I mean, if Lettermen called\u00a0<em>FLOTUS\u00a0<\/em>a tw*t? \u00a0Or if Maher would&#8217;ve called\u00a0<em>Hillary Clinton\u00a0<\/em>a c*nt? \u00a0The earth may have imploded.<\/p>\n<p>But when they aimed their sexism toward conservative women? \u00a0Laughter.<\/p>\n<p>No one was reprimanded.
