So I get up early and meet my Italian friends in Santa Fe to ride out with them for a bit and at the hotel one of them notices I’m carrying a gun. It’s not a big deal to them, except for the one that happens to be a police detective in Rome. He and I talk a bit about guns and the like and I empty the gun and pass it to him. Once again, it’s just another gun.. Then he sees the bullets, THEY are a big deal. They’re illegal in Italy. I carry hollow points. So I strip one out of the magazine and give it to the detective. You’d have thought I gave him gold. I rode with them for an hour and then headed home to fix the swamp cooler.

Andy & I did a half assed repair on the cooler yesterday, which didn’t last. I picked up the missing parts today on the way home and fixed it right when I got home. Easy job when you got the right stuff.

If in Santa Fe, you have to stop @ Harley, right? Well, of course you do. While there I gave one of the girls a massage. She’s a masseuse and was complaining about not having anyone to massage her and she “really” needed one bad, so I obliged.

To cap off the day, we had a farewell party for one of the Old Fartz. Bob Bob Bob and Bernadette had about 30 of the Old Fartz over to wish Bob and his wife a fond farewell. Nice guy but deaf as a stone and his hearing aids are just a marginal help..

So I’ve been checking the gorilla killing incident because it just seems so blown out of proportion in many aspects and I’ve noted on some of the social media sites something strange.  White privilege. Yep, I said white privilege. It’s white privilege that caused them to save the boy over the gorilla. If it weren’t a white boy, they would have found the tranquilizer gun instead of the rifle.

I blame the political correctness of the American press from keeping this fact from us. To them it’s much better to leave us clueless that to risk offending a person of color. They’ll offend a white person all day long, but let’s not offend any other race!

The Net Covers Gorilla Shooting 54 X Chicago Deaths!

This is priceless! This website nails it. People are more worried about a dead damned gorilla than America’s murder central! Fifty four times the coverage of the monkey than the deaths in Chicago over the Memorial Day weekend! We sure have messed up values.

• Last night the alarm in the store went off. John didn’t close the door properly and it blew open, triggering the alarm
• I was unable to sleep after that and I’m feeling that today will not be a good day.
• This has happened before, but each time has to be treated as a real break-in.
• On Friday, a group of us from the HOG chapter will meet a group from and Italian Hog chapter in Santa Rosa. We may go swimming in the Blue Hole and have lunch with them before guiding them into Santa Fe via Route 66.
• They were going to take 285 to SF and were unaware that 66 used to run right by my place. I volunteered to meet with them and guide them on the long abandoned route of 66. There are several landmarks there that I plan to show them on the way. to my place.
• Many of our chapter members have jumped on board this trip to Santa Rosa and were unaware of Rte. 66’s former designation out here as well.

We had NO GAS! We were out of all grades, zero petro at Pecos River. I was promised 8500 gallons at noon and the fuel arrived 3 hours late. At least it got here. 7000 gallons lead-free regular and 1500 gallons lead-free premium. Now I have to change the prices when there are no customers here.

Well, I’m training  for my new job, at my convenience right now. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but since I’m doing it on my dime, I got some leeway in what I’m doing. The past 3 days I spent between the dealership and the National Guard base helping with the class that started Tuesday. While I no longer use a FitBit, my iPhone’s health app can also track my steps and in the 2 days on the range, I walked almost 19,000 steps. Between getting paid to ride motorcycles, doing something that I’m going to enjoy, and getting some much needed exercise, this seems to me as a win/win deal.

My plan is to sit through classes and range time of all the current instructors and take from them what I hope to incorporate in my classes after I get certified. Once I’m certified, I hope to start a mentoring program in our HOG chapter to pair new riders with compatible experienced riders. This will give the graduates of the New Rider’s Class an opportunity to partner with a chapter member that is willing to help them gain riding experience.
