Spring Ride 2022-Dennis, Frank, Tom & me

1~Cortez Colorado:
Here is where Dennis and I hooked up with Frank & Tom, the crew of this trip. No pictures were taken here. Tom and I had our first meeting and he seemed like a decent sort, which was important to me since he and I’d be rooming together for the entire trip.

2~Lamar Colorado:
Got nothing to say about this town other than we spent the night there. Riding there we passed through a cloud bank and a slight rain on the other side of the cloud. When we did stop, I was asked why I would ride speed limit +5 on dry roads and 90 on rain slick roads. I had no answer to that.

One of the many McDonalds stops we made this trip.

3~Lebanon & Belleville Kansas:
On the way out of Belleville, we stopped at the Geographic Center of the USA Near Lebanon, KS). Interesting place with actually some traffic going in and out, despite the out of the way location.

Me at the marker.

Belleville gave us one of the best closed gas stations converted to a restaurant experiences we’ve all had. Mexican with a gas station vibe.

Tom (L) & Frank (R) are praising the quality of their margaritas in the above picture.

4~Aberdeen South Dakota & The Corn Palace:
En route to Aberdeen, we stopped in Mitchel S.D. to visit thee Corn Palace. Truly an amazing place, a venue for virtually anything. Concerts, basketball games, dances, circuses, etc . . . .

Aberdeen was just an overnight stay prior to crossing over into Canada.

5~Entering Canada
The border crossing was basically a non-event. Two minutes of checking our passports each and we were waved on. Had to take pictures proving that we made it.

The back of the customs station. First Canada pic.
All the rides together in Canada.

Brandon was the start of all the water we’ve seen in Canada and our first stop. That country has more scenic water than any place i’ve ever seen. It’s truly a beautiful country.
[American bitchiness rant here]
Canadian taxes make the U.S. seem like a bargain. Once we did the conversions for the liters to gallons & U.S. currency to Canadian $ it worked out to around $8.00 a gallon for fuel. 😳 The owners of the hotel told us about the taxes they have to endure. Not even gonna start on the regulations they have. [End bitchy rant]

6~Kenora MB, Canada
Another amazing area. Beautiful lakes and crystal clear rivers.

7~Heading to Wawa

Tom & Frank

Lots of scenery heading to Wawa. {Disclaimer} I can’t remember where exactly all the pics were taken, but I’m just going to post the rest of them for you all to get a taste of what & where we were. If they have something telling me what and where, I’ll mention it somehow.

Tasteful? graffiti scratched into the rock.

Dennis & Frank

Leaving Wawa and the final pit stop for Tom that morning.
The High Harley Medicine Man, Dennis Finney, blessing us as we gazed upon the waters.

Mr. Mazda, Tom Leonard. Call him if you need tech help with your cell phones.

Pathway to the old native paintings along Lake Superior. I started this hike until my heart noticed the difficulty of this hike and told my it would kill me if I tried it. I believe my heart when it gives me warnings.
Cool pic along the heart attack trail.

Short cut back to the bikes.

More Lake Superior pictures.

Last lunch in Canada.
The manager of the hotel we stayed at. She was so excited when I gave her a ride, it was fun. She kept giggling and squeezing during the 2 mile ride. She says she will be buying a Harley and take the Riding Academy.
