- we had a nice ride here, but we could have made it faster than we did. One of our group insists on riding the speed limit 5 over makes him nervous, plus he doesn’t have a windshield on his bike.
- Others insist on stopping to pee. Each stop is almost guaranteed to take 30 minutes..
- I’ve been here for several hour now and haven’t stopped to gamble. I’m hoping for tonight. David, the store owner gambles and will probably join me. I hope my luck has turned to the good finally.
- Just finished talking to another HOG member while writing this. She’s from Bakersfield California. So far I’ve been talking to Californians, Michiganders, Texans, Arizonians, Coloradoans, and others I didn’t ask. I’m having a ball.

We made it to Flagstaff Arizona.
It was a long hard ride to Flagstaff, but we made it. I’m in bed already at 6:55 PM and I’m ready for sleep already but I know I can’t sleep otherwise I’m in trouble later on.
Rick led the ride today, I lead the ride tomorrow. I don’t have my computer so everything I’m doing on the blog and the family board is on my iPad using voice to text technology. It’s pretty cool but it makes mistakes and I have to proofread everything prior to posting it.
Tomorrow when we ride we will make it to Vegas. We are stopping in Kingston for hamburgers at in and out burger. Natalie’s making us do it.
Vegas Bound
Leaving on the Harley to Vegas Wednesday morning. A group of 6 of us are leaving Santa Fe @ 8:00 a.m. We meet the store owners there on Thursday. Training starts on Friday and finishes on Saturday. We head towards home on Sunday morning. I may make a side trip to Phoenix to visit with Lou Dawson. He’s been pretty down since Perry died. I’ll talk to Nan on Thursday to see what she thinks.
Nice Ride Sunday
And no, Tori, Michael and the kids didn’t join us on the ride, they just chose the same restaurant for lunch as we did. All my friends were impressed with my granddaughter! 😀
New ID theft thing to worry about.
The bar code or QR code that is used for you to board an airplane can contain more data than you think. It’s been reported that they can contain your credit card info including the whole number, the 3 digit code on the back and your expiration date.
All it takes is a code reader app on your cell phone to capture this data. I have one of those apps on my phone and it came as part of my AT&T phone plan that I got years ago. Even if this data is encrypted, a good identity thief would have the necessary tools to decrypt the data.
Safest way to keep your data secure is to take the ticket home with you and shred it. In theory, the data will drop from the database after a couple of days, but why take the chance?
Another Day, Another Ride
I have to be at SFHD @ 10:00 for a meeting and at 10:30 I take about 15 to Fort Union. First we stop for lunch in Las Vegas, and then we head to the fort.
While I was riding, Nina was dog shopping.
Today
Yes I’m doing this. It should be a real madhouse. the sponsors are estimating between 200 – 400 bikers to attend. We don’t have enough road captains. The store’s event’s coordinator was been MIA while training for her new job, but she’s supposed to be there today. We’re supposed to lead them to the #1 spot for suicide in NM, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Depending on how this goes, I may jump.
It’s a good cause, but RT needs to realize our limitations. We only have a small # of road captains.
Cloudy with rain predicted.
Since we’re in a no rain pattern lately, this is anticipated by most people. I think I heard that we’ve had 100+ days without measurable moisture. I guess we need it, so I’ll leave my bike parked today.
I’ve cut back on the Scrabble and WWF games I’ve been playing. I’ll pick up the slack later, but right now I am just going to stay at the current level.
This weekend was have 2 rides happening. I’m not looking forward to the Saturday ride, there’s supposed to be 200 to 400 riders on that ride and the dealership’s event coordinator is in training for a new job and her replacement/assistant is too new to deal with that many people.
The Sunday ride is a chapter ride and we’re doing lunch in Las Vegas and having a tour of Fort Union near Watrous. This should be a fun ride.
