Subject: ARTHUR AND THE OLD UGLY WOMAN

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur’s youth and ideals.  So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question.  Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if, after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question?…What do women really want?  Such a question would
perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query.  But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch’s proposition to have an answer by year’s end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men and even the court jester.  He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old ugly woman, for only she would have the answer. But the price would be high; as the woman was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the old woman.  She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first. The old ugly woman wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur’s closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified.  She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden; but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur’s life and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the woman answered Arthur’s question thus: What a woman really wants, she answered….is to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the woman had uttered a great truth and that Arthur’s life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the ugly woman had a wonderful wedding. The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a
horrific experience, entered the bedroom.  But, what a sight awaited
him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen lay before him on the bed.  The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened.

The young beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared ugly, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed
self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half. Which would he prefer?  Beautiful during the day….or night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament.  During the day, a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old ugly woman?  Or, would he prefer having a hideous woman during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman for him to enjoy wondrous intimate moments?

What would YOU do?

What Lancelot chose is below.

BUT….make YOUR choice before you scroll down below.

OKAY?

Noble Lancelot said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself. Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now….what is the moral to this story?

The moral is…..

If you don’t let a woman have her own way….
Things are going to get ugly.

ML Update

Wow, she is on a downward slide. She had another stroke yesterday and she refused our offers medical care. “Just let me die.” She has a DNR and has refused medical repeatedly in the past. Every Tuesday a hospice nurse comes and checks her out. Mostly it’s an ordeal for the nurse, but on occasion she’s actually pleasant to the nurse. This past few days have been rough for ML.

Not a drought breaker, but…

We’ll this spring we’ve had a great amount of rain, including yesterday and today. Joe’s roads are trashed with boulders sliding down into them. He’s moved most of them but one appears to be ready to block the road and it won’t be easy to move. From his description, it would be a several ton boulder.

The weatherliars will consider the drought broken when the reservoirs are filled and all the waterways are running. The Pecos River is running strong. Many of the arroyos are showing water in them and are considered dangerous at this time.

TODAY

Heading to SFH-D today to take the staff photos. I’ll be taking the Jeep because of the rain potential. The pictures are supposed to be from above, so I hope they have what’s needed to get me above the crowd.

Tomorrow should be nice enough to ride, but today promises too much rain to risk taking out the bike for a local ride.

It’s Back

Yes, it;s back and we can’t shut it up! She started in on me around 6:00 to replay that old story of how Shirley tried to kill her when she was just a baby. I thought I’d shut her up by telling her “my mom taught me never to speak ill of the dead” and she apologized and said she’d never talk about it again . . . and then she continued talking about it. After another 5 minutes of that, I asked her what happened to her not talking poorly of Shirley? That shut her up for now.

I swear, Nina’s gonna kill her.

I miss our time alone already.

General

  • Saturday I will be taking staff pictures at Santa Fe Harley. This is the second time they’ve asked me to take pictures for the store. I guess they like my pictures.
  • Today will be a sad day. ML returns from our vacation from her. We’ll see if she’s improved her attitude and if not  we will send her back permanently.
  • While at the home, she fell out of the wheelchair and received a golfball sized knot on her forehead and some bruising. She was looking down the hallway and looking for the train that was going total her back to Chicago.
  • I passed on going to lunch with the Old Fartz yesterday. While the ride to the restaurant would have been nice, going home would have been a 2 hour ride that would cut into my nap time.
  • Catherine just started taking Ambien for her sleepless nights. She’s going to give me a couple to see if I’m interested in getting a script for it too. She took her first one the night before last and said it was wonderful! I’m thinking of making the trip to Santa Fe topic up the pills and see if it helps me.
  • Grabbed me a Sig a couple days ago. Very nice. 1911 style in a smaller package.  Birthday present from Nina.
  • Erin leaves today.
  • I hate my schedule.
  • Once again I’m glueing tiles back on the counters in the kitchen. I guess it’s time to buy another tube of the adhesive that I use. It works when the original shit didn’t.
