Harley Biker

A Harley Biker is riding by the zoo in Washington, DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.

The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.

Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.

The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, ‘Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I’ve seen a man do in my whole life.’

The Harley rider replies, ‘Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.’

The reporter says, ‘Well, I’ll make sure this won’t go unnoticed. I’m a journalist, you know, and tomorrow’s paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?’

The biker replies “I’m a U.S. Marine, and a Republican”.

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:

U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

And THAT pretty much sums up the media’s approach to the news these days.

HOG Meeting

My first member meeting @ Tesuque Village Market. 20 members attended the meeting and we had a great time at breakfast and had a 15 minute meeting afterwards. The focus of our chapter under my direction will be riding, very short meetings, and having a good time with like minded people.

We had to split into 2 groups, but this pic is the largest of the 2 groups.
I’m in the middle of the back row.

I called Nan last night and terminated our friendship.

Yes, it has finally become too much of a burden to keep her as a friend. First off, Lou, her father, stopped by for a visit unannounced  and stayed for 4 hours. Four depressing hours. He’s a very lonely sad man. The visit left us feeling  depressed. Then I get a call from Nan’s cousin Terry. Lou told him that if he’s driving to Denver, he has to stop and visit us since he’ll drive right by our store! WTF?! Terry spent 2 hours with us and that prompted the termination.

I just can’t have her family just visiting us without barely a warning. I mean what if a visit from Terry would cause us to move to avoid the visit? Right? I’d need at least a months notice.

The visit went fine. He arrived after we closed and I kicked him out, Beth style, just before 10. We relived old adventures and talked of families. He doesn’t look too bad, but he’s bald. I hear that happens to people our age, but other than some thinning I can’t see, unless its in a picture taken from the rear, I’m doing pretty good on the hair thing.

I learned some interesting things about Lou from Terry. I’ll spare you all the details, but if you really want to find out, call Nina and ask her. She never could keep a secret.

I am thinking of having Carl drop by Nan & Pat’s house on occasion to teach her a lesson on boundaries. Maybe Carl & Keith can tag team her.

Oh well, peace.
