OK, it’s simple! Really it is, I promise!

  • Person A writes person B a check.
  • Person B brings said check into my store to cash this check.
  • Person A’s check is a low number check and NO STORE likes low number checks. They scream STARTER CHECK!
  • Now if person A or B is a known quantity, we can cash said check, IF WE TRUST HIM/HER.
  • Trust meaning if the check is returned, will this person pay us back?!
  • If person A is an unknown and we don’t trust person B to reimburse, we automatically refuse to cash said check.
  • If person A is an unknown and person B is a regular but we know nothing about him, we refuse to cash the check.
  • Make sense?
  • It should, it’s really easy.

Tori, print this out and place it in everyone’s pay envelope this week please. Cut of the stuff above the title and these instructions and print out enough to give everyone, please. Thank you.

Back to my exciting narrative of vacation life.

Yesterday we took an unknown trail. It’s on the maps because it has a name, Placer Gulch. Very rough trail, lots of fun shit on this trail.

When leaving Placer Gulch, we moved into Picyune Gulch and promptly felt lost. Now don’t get me wrong, I could just turn around and head back the way we came, but that’s the way a girl would do it, not a guy. We pressed on. We passed several people on the way through Picyune Gulch and while Nina said we should ask directions, I felt it would betray the guy code to do so. We pressed on. About this time I noticed we were down to a quarter tank of gas and this concerned me. If we were truly lost, it would take more than a quarter tank of gas to keep us warm overnight. Finally we came across a federal ranger. Now I’m still not going to ask him directions or even tell him that I think we’re lost, but a guy does ask, “Where’s the closest gas station?” and hope for some useful intel to get us back to where we needed to be. Ranger Rick was useless as tits on a bull. It was his first day on the job in this district and he was out there learning where things are.

Well, we made it out with plenty of gas to spare. We even took more trails before heading to Ridgeway for the cheap gas.

Nina is still sleeping, but once she’s up and ready we’re heading home. It was a fun trip and we look forward to doing it again.

So, am I having fun yet?

  • Ouray has some cool cop cars!
  • Had lunch in Telluride today.
  • Took some back roads to get there.
  • Searched for Ophir, couldn’t find it.
  • Did some stuff that we’ve never done before.
  • Love me some lockers on this Jeep!
  • They pulled me out of a tough place yesterday. No pics.
  • We had a bad breakfast experience at one of our favorite places Friday.
  • Spent an hour getting breakfast and had to send it back.
  • I slammed them on Trip Advisor. Won’t go back.
  • Brunch at Bon Ton today. Slammed them too last year, but they have a new chef.
  • I hope they don’t remember me.  I hate spit flavored food.

Nice day yesterday.

We had a nice day yesterday. Did an abnormal amount of off-roading when you consider what most people with 4X4s do each year. I’m guestimating that we did around 60 miles off-road. Fun stuff. Since I left my camera in the Jeep, I have no pictures to show you until later.

Ouray is also affect by the same drought that has us crying FOUL. They however have had some snow and are not in as bad of shape as we are. The river is lower, the run-off is almost nonexistent and we are seeing more dead trees. We should not be able to get to places we are going but the lower than normal snowfall has trails open now that are usually not open until mid-July or later.

There is a Jeep in the parking lot that has the rear bumper that I want. It has a spare carrier that works in conjunction to the door rather than adding another step. Maybe around Christmas time. Here it is. You may drool at this point if you own a Jeep. I wonder if the guy in the parking lot would notice if I switched bumpers with him, it’s only 8 bolts.

I had two drinks with dinner last night. They must really load those mixed drinks with more than a few shots because they hit me hard last night. Shirley’s being a snot to Tori, but that’s OK, she’s young and can take it.

It’s 4:30 something as I type this and I think I may try to fall back to sleep again. This place has GREAT beds. Best beds in Ouray!

I’ll ad some pictures around breakfast time, maybe.

Laters everyone. Piece, peace, PPPPPP’s, and whatever.

You’d think we’d have had enough of Ouray

and you’d be wrong.

With the situation that occurred with ML this past week under control, we were left hanging and just a little disturbed that we’re stuck in NM rather than being in Chicago as planned. I called Wednesday and found there were plenty of rooms at the Hot Springs Inn in Ouray and we decided to take a long weekend up here.

I’m sitting in a swinging chair with a table writing this alongside the Uncompahgre River while writing this. We’re doing 2 nights currently but may extend if rooms are available.

We’re going to Animas Forks today and hope to lunch at Handlebars in Silverton. This was the same trail where I got the flat last year. Stupid TPMS thingies!

More later.

June 13th because couldn’t think of a good title.

  1. As you can see from the picture below, I installed my new bumper, with help. No, not Erin. Henry helped.
  2. The bumper makes the front end look tougher. Cost just a few dollars more than the hitch receiver I needed to by for the snow plow.
  3. Erin spent a bunch of time with me outside today.
  4. Rambo is back in town. I need to reinforce his perma ban from the store. Thieving bastard. I wish he was killed in prison.
  5. Tori got a new camera yesterday. Expect more pictures on the net.
  6. Nina took her ugly boot off last night. Not sure why.
  7. Erin and I went to Diane’s yesterday. They had a great time together. Diane’s house is like a hobbit house with tons of little trinkets all around. They walked and talked for an hour. Anyone want to buy her house? It’s for sale.
Peace out.
