Yesterday’s Ride and Then Some?

Wow, what a weird day. Sunny when I woke up, clouding over by the time I was thinking of leaving, and then full blown fog. I chose to trailer the bike to town for the ride, so to speak. I rode with Rick for the pre-ride, it was an hour long ride and we had great weather for that, in Santa Fe.

Hung around at the dealership while they did my 7500 mile service, at 7900 miles and then they put it on the dyno to check an issue I was having at high speeds. At speeds of over 100 m.p.h. the engine would vibrate enough to scare the crap out of me. They could find no problems and they had it up to 120 m.p.h. and it didn’t happen. I watched and it was smooth as silk.

I grabbed a nap at the dealership on the couch. Everyone thought it was funny. I sat down and was sleeping in under a minute. It’s a nice thing that I can do, almost anywhere. The girls wished I brought Erin with me, but given the agenda of the day, I felt that was not in her best interest.

Riding home with the bike, freshly cleaned, I realized that I have yet to pick up my bike and make it all the way home without having my bike soiled in some way. Today it was ice.

Wednesday

  • Going on a pre-ride with Rick to choose a route for the Saturday Polar Ride from the dealership.
  • Leaving the dealership at 10:30 and then I’ll have my bike serviced after the ride or lunch, whichever works for me.
  • The temperature now is in the 30’s, so by the time I leave it should be around 40. Cold, but manageable.
  • I’m looking forward to the ride. Erin wanted to join me.
  • At the dealership yesterday, she saw a pink helmet that she begged me to buy for her so she could ride with me, but it was an extra large and Erin has some growing to do before XL will fit her, if ever.
  • Actually, Nina’s, Tori’s, and Erin’s heads are all the same size, XS. They can all wear the same helmet.
  • Erin needs to grow before I take her for more than a spin around the campground.

Growing old sucks!

Two medical students were walking along the street when they   saw an old man walking with his legs spread apart, stiff-legged and   walking slowly.

One student said: ” I’m sure that old man   has Peltry Syndrome ”.

The other says: ” No, I don’t think so.   The old man surely has Zovitzki Syndrome . ”

He walks slowly and his legs are apart, just as we learned   in class.”

Since they couldn’t agree they decided to ask the old man.

“We’re medical   students and couldn’t help notice the way you walk, but we couldn’t   agree on the syndrome you might have.

Could you tell us what it is ?”

The old man said, “I’ll tell you, but   first you tell me what you two fine med students think .”

The first student said, “I think its Peltry Syndrome .”

The old man said, “You   thought – but you are wrong .”

The other student said, “I think you have Zovitzki Syndrome .”

The old man said, “You   thought – but you are wrong .”

So they asked him, “Well,   what do you have ?”

The old man said, “I thought it was   ‘gas’ but I was wrong, too !”

THANKS MOM!

Day 5, 2015

  • Twice so far I’ve written 2014 in stead of 2015. Once I get this shit down pat, it should be June when I start screwing up again.
  • Erin returned to us yesterday. We played a game with some mustaches on sticks. She really got into it, but still lost. She/we had fun and there was quite a bit of laughing.
  • We did not go to the ride for Gil yesterday. This was an Old Fartz ride. I have no idea who Gil was, but he’s dead and I guess people in the SF Harley community really liked the guy. I hope when I’m gone that people feel the same about me.
  • 20° is too cold for me to ride. Nice guy or not. Sorry Gil.
  • My next scheduled ride is Wednesday and the weather liars are not sure if it will be warm enough for me to take the ride. Old Fartz lunch.
  • This weekend we have 2 rides scheduled. Thankfully, driving these in a car is always optional. It think Saturday, weather permitting, I’ll ride alone and Sunday we can take the Jeep. Sunday’s ride is to a country club.
  • For me to ride, I need it to be in the 40’s. I can ride in colder if forced to by circumstances, but I prefer warmer.

This Weekend

Saturday I took Catherine to the ghost town, Los Fuertes, just south of LV. We spent about an hour there as I explained what each building and structure was, or at least what I thought they were.DSC_0989

Then today, Sunday, Nina and I took a long drive, about 100 miles, after breakfast. We found the San Ignacio area and saw some cool old buildings.
