December already.

Happy December everyone. The countdown to Christmas begins, at least with me. I hate seeing Christmas ads starting after Halloween, it annoys me.

We did that bank this morning and afterwards I went stopped at a friend’s to see if I could get her FaceTime working. Didn’t happen, so I told her to stop at Verizon when she went to town next.

Erin is challenging Tori more lately. Not a good thing for either of them. Not a good thing for me either. It causes loud talking and shouting and other nastiness in MY house. I hate that. If there weren’t other people here I wouldn’t mind it as much. No witnesses.

We went on a ride over the weekend. Nice short ride, just a 100 mile run. I’ll have to take it out later this week for it’s 7500 service, just a few miles late of course. The bike has over 7600 miles on it by now. I hope to have over 8000 before the end of the year.

ML is still alive, contrary to Nina’s mid-year prediction. Evil just doesn’t die. Hospice has taken her off a few of her meds because they’re contrary to the hospice policy. Don’t know more, don’t care either.

I’m thinking of playing poker Thursday. After last week I figured to try the no limit hold-em games they do every other week. I did very well during my last appearance.

Dat’s all.

The Lawyer v. the Senior Citizen

A lawyer and a senior citizen are sitting next to each other on a long flight. The lawyer is thinking that seniors are so dumb that he could put one over on them easily. So, the lawyer asks if the senior would like to play a fun game. The senior is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and tries to catch a few winks. The lawyer persists, saying that the game is a lot of fun. “I ask you a question, and if you don’t know the answer, you pay me only $5.00.  Then you ask me one, and if I don’t know the answer, I will pay you $500.00,” he says. This catches the senior’s attention and, to keep the lawyer quiet, he agrees to play the game.

The lawyer asks the first question.  “What’s the distance from the Earth to the Moon?” The senior doesn’t say a word, but reaches into his pocket, pulls out a five-dollar bill, and hands it to the lawyer.

Now, it’s the senior’s turn.  He asks the lawyer, “What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?”

The lawyer uses his laptop to search all references he could find on the Net and sends e-mails to all the smart friends he knows–all to no avail.  After an hour of searching, he finally gives up. He wakes the senior and hands him $500.00.  The senior pockets the $500.00 and goes back to sleep.

The lawyer is now going nuts not knowing the answer.  He wakes the senior up and asks, “Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?” The senior reaches into his pocket, hands the lawyer $5.00, and goes back to sleep.

Moral: Don’t mess with seniors!

Black Friday

  • I’m not shopping today.
  • Taking the bike out for a while this afternoon.
  • Nina wants to try out her new chaps. My wife the biker babe!
  • Not sure where, but we will ride for a few hours today.
  • Yesterday would have been perfect, warm and no wind.
  • Hey Joe, thanks for dinner yesterday!
  • I talked to a lot of people yesterday, wishing them an Happy Thanksgiving. It was nice.
  • Didn’t call my Brit friends though, it seems they don’t celebrate our national holidays.
  • ML looked like hell yesterday. It wouldn’t have surprised me if she didn’t wake up this morning, but she did and seems to be in a better mood.
  • I think holidays depress her. Maybe I’ll start making up holidays to add to her calendar.
  • I’m grilling burgers for lunch in a few minutes.
  • Erin is with the other peoples now. We should have had her for the entire day yesterday. Originally they were told that we had her for the entire Thanksgiving holiday and they would have her on her b-day. They forget the significance of us having her in the house she was born on the holiday she was born.
  • Of course there’s the possibility that I’m making more of this than I should.
  • NAH!
  • Well, since I started this and forgot to post it, I’ll add to it.
  • We rode about 100 miles today and visited with Erin.

  • She climbed all over the bike.and posed for that picture.
  • Dinner this evening was fun. I gave Ashley a rough time.

Happy Thanksgiving

I am thankful for:

  • Nina. First and always first.
  • Tori and Andy.
  • Erin. A surprise that happened on this day 6 years ago and captured my heart at first glance. She amazes me in ways only a child can.
  • Mom. Always there. Saturday mornings are a highlight of my week, every week.
  • Dad. Long gone, but his lessons are still fresh.
  • My family, spouses, children, and partners,  that aren’t in my life daily, but who are in my thoughts always. I’m thankful for all of you.
  • My friends. While they all deserve mention here, the number would tax my memory. You all offer me many things that family can’t or won’t bring to my life.
  • New Mexico. The state has changed me for the better.
  • Pecos River Station. It’s kept me sharp and focused. I still want to sell it though.
  • Our employees. They make free time possible and for the most part, we’ve ben very lucky throughout our 20 years here.
  • My diversions. They add to my sanity.
I wish all that read my blog happiness and prosperity, in that order. Without happiness, prosperity is an empty feeling.
