Just a former garbageman living in New Mexico selling crap to tourists and locals alike.

Another Erinday is upon us.

Erin returns home today. Last night we had severe storms pass through and Erin is afraid of the storms. I hope she was safe in Dilia, but I would have felt better with her here.

The storms were severe as I mentioned above. Quarter size hail and ½ inch of rain in less than an hour. Once over, the National Weather Service called us. they were looking for details about the storm and since they have no monitors in our area, they rely on us.

We’re also experiencing tornadoes this year. TV tells me that this is not normal, but I disagree. In all our years here, we’ve only been aware of one or two twisters.

All our years here . . . . makes it sound like we’ve been here for a long time. Well, if you consider 20 years a long time, we have been here for a long time. We arrived here June 13 or14, 1994. We took over ownership of this place July 1, 1994. We left Illinois on my 40th birthday to head here to deal with licensing issues, prior to taking possession of the place, to ensure a smooth transition for our customers.

More about our 20 years here later in the month.

Miscellaneous Stuff

  • We have some weather pending. Looks like rain even!
  • The car that caught fire here yesterday was towed out by 9:00. I was surprised and pleased. All too often we get stuck with the vehicle for days.
  • Later in the day we had someone drive over and get stuck on some of the poles we have lying around.  Moron.
  • Marylou is not happy that we fired Henry. I told her that her opinion only counts when she pays the person.
  • I did mention that I fired Henry before, didn’t I? Well I did.
  • The weatherliar just showed a graphic stating that we have storms possible all the way through Wednesday.
  • I’m almost at 3000 miles on my bike already. Fun stuff.
  • It gets between 38 and 43 m.p.g. Quite a difference from the Jeep.
  • Anyone watching this “hidden cash” phenomenon on Twitter or the news? I’m not on Twitter but it is being reported all the time on the local news. When they show it, you see crowds racing across streets and through traffic. I wonder how long it will be before someone gets hurt or killed. It has arrived in Albuquerque.
  • I talked to Keith today.
  • Have a great weekend everyone.

The Fire This Morning

  • So today I get to sleep in.
  • 6:30 actually.
  • A virtual dream state sleep.
  • A bath seems in order, right?
  • I guess not. The intercom calls me.
  • Jeannie. There a car fire outside.
  • “Is any of my property in danger?”
  • Of course it is, they parked the burning car right by the propane tanks.
  • Jump out of the tub
  • Dry my face.
  • Run naked through the house.
  • Throw on pants and a pair of slip ons.
  • Race outside.
  • They’re throwing water on the car. Water.
  • I have $1000 worth of fire extinguishers all over the place and they’re using water.
  • Brian and I raise the hood.
  • I hold the hood and he sprays the fire.
  • Fire department arrived 45 minutes later.
  • That’s a comforting fact, isn’t it?
  • I inhaled a small amount of toxic fumes.
  • At least I think it was toxic.
  • If there are no further posts after this one, you can assume that it was truly toxic.
  • A family of women were driving the car and they all got out OK. No one was hurt in anyway, thankfully.
  • I know you’re all jealous of my life. The excitement is intoxicating.

ATV’s are back and running

I picked up our ATVs yesterday. Both had been idle for almost 2 years due to the drought. The forest was closed to public access due to dry conditions and even though there are ways to access out here, I wasn’t gonna be the guy that started the next local fire.

Hot weather lately. 95° most of the week so far. I look forward to next week when the weatherliars predict more seasonal weather for early June.

My birthday is Wednesday and I was planning on having a BBQ on the deck for some people, but I changed my mind. I think I’ll go out to dinner with Nina and we’ll do some tourist shit in Santa Fe. Heck, we might even do the Elephant Bar in Albuquerque since it’s been months. The Apple store is close to the Elephant Bar too.
