Thursday already?

  • It feels like Erin has just arrived and now she’s heading back to Dilia. Bummer.
  • Full day today, sorta. I guess it’s a full afternoon.
  • I have a lunch meeting planned in Vegas.
  • I have a 3:00 marketing meeting at Highland’s University.
  • I have a poker game at 6:00 at Curt’s place. I was told to bring a gun.
  • Rereading this, I guess it isn’t that full after all. Just another day.
  • Marylou is behaving herself. In a way she’s easier than Shirley. She can communicate with us. She feeds herself. She can aid in her care.
  • She apologized to Tori last night. It brought a tear to my eye. Her and Tori are now besties.
  • Erin likes ML. ML marvels at Erin’s energy.
  • That’s if for now.

Edit: Lunch meeting canceled. I should check my email before posting here.

Edit again: Marketing meeting canceled too.

Shirley

Shirley

Shirley’s passing has me remembering how long I’ve known this amazing woman. I met her at the Dawson’s home in LaGrange, long before Nina was an object of my attention. Her and Armand were card buddies with Lou and Perry. I came into the picture because of my friendship with Nan. Don, Ed, Susie, Nan, and myself all hung together. We still do when proximity and time permits. I’m thinking we’ve been friends since I was 17, or around 1971. 42 or 43 years? Is that even possible? Someone please check my math.

Shirley was always the one that appreciate my devious nature, something I’m sure my own mother didn’t. As a mother-in-law, Shirley was great. As a friend, she was fantastic. Her and Armand were good people. Kind people. Great grandparents. Shirley will be missed from our lives and while I’m sad and tearing up while writing this, I’m glad she’s at peace and no longer in pain.

Suddenly, all of my ancestors are behind me. “Be still” they say. Watch and listen, you are the result of the love of thousands.

Life goes on.

Shirley is gone and life goes on. Monday means banking for Nina and me with breakfast preceding anything. Tori will pick up Erin today. The Herns kept her an extra day due to yesterday’s happenings. While we felt that it was best for Erin to not be here, she could have come home as all was over with so early.

Joe returned from Florida yesterday. He stopped by on his way home and condolences were delivered and accepted along with a review of his trip. I’m glad that he’s found someone that makes him happy.

Yesterday afternoon I replaced some bulbs in the store along with having to replace one of the fixture’s ballasts. (Dennis, that solution the sale man gave me worked fine. FYI) The store is well lit again. I plan on changing out all the bulbs in the store later this week.

Brother Carl is on a cruise now. We’ve been hearing that the ship is filled with Asians and old people, not at all what Carl was hoping for, but then I realized that he is just a year behind me in turning 60 and I realize that maybe the old people part of the cruise is a bit appropriate. (Don’t hate me Carl. 2015 is a reality for you.)

I am a husband, father, grandfather, friend, business owner, traveller, Harley rider, citizen, patriot, gun owner, politically eclectic person of strange personal habits. I support police, trust no politicians, and can argue any side of an argument just to amuse myself. People love me or hate me and those that are in-between don't know me.
