Wind . . . . I HATE YOU!

Driving home from Santa Fe with Erin today, I noticed a bunch tumbleweeds being blown across the interstate.  I think one big tumbleweed may have been a mule deer or an elk, but I may be wrong.

This wind is abusive.  I’m looking out the front door at what’s supposed to be a clear and cloudless sky and all I’m seeing is light brown and I can barely see the mesa across the highway.  It is miserable out here.

That’s all.

MY TOILET BROKE!

Well, the flush handle hit the floor when I tried to flush it this morning.  Just left a little knob to try to flush with.  Lucky for me I had some tiny vise grips lying about the living room.

It will be left like that until can get a new handle system.  Thanks Tim for putting a crappy pot metal piece of shit on my toilet that didn’t last a year!

40 Pounds

Since I started to try and lose weight, I have lost 40 pounds.  I started at 335 and I’m now at 295.

This has been a long time getting here and my current goal is 250, at which point I will reassess my goal.  I started this current downward trend over a year ago and while I wish this was a faster process, I’m happy it’s still moving down.

Sister Beth clued me into the FitBit thingy, a fancy assed pedometer, and it has helped me in this process.  I can track things better with the FitBit and the related website that syncs to the device.

I’m amazed at how few calories I actually ingest and I’m still fat.  Out of the entire time I’ve been doing the FitBit thingy, I’ve gone over my suggested calorie count 4 times and those were small amounts.

Oh well, I’m losing weight and that’s what’s important.

Uncle Harry

My Uncle Harry passed away on Easter Sunday.  My memories of him are private and fond, but I felt his passing needed mention here.  He was a good man, who raised good kids, who themselves have brought good kids into our lives.  You will be missed Uncle Harry.

My New Ride

Since it went to Facebook, I figured to mention that it was bought at Lithia Jeep in Santa Fe.  Marc Golan always treats me like an armed intruder in his house when he sees me at the dealership, but I still buy all my cars from Marc.

General Bullshit. Watch where you step!

Nina met with the nursing home’s physical therapist yesterday about ML’s progress, or lack thereof as the case may be.  She is improving, but she’s also telling the therapist that she doesn’t have to learn things, like bathroom skills, getting in and out of bed, and dressing and such, because she will have people here to do all that shit for her.  Monday Nina and I are planning on giving her a reality check.  Should be fun.

Erin and I play this chasing game here, one where I walk around the furniture while she runs from me and I try to catch her.  Me walking and her running doesn’t sound like I stand much of a chance, but to date I’ve only failed to catch her once.  Now this shouldn’t even be written about except for the fact that she will stop in mid-run and taunt me!  Once she even had the gall to tell me I can’t catch her because I’m too fat!  I immediately put on a burst of speed and caught her in 4 steps.  Long legs beat short legs every time!  Nasty little kid.

Someone is stealing gas from my car in my carport.  I set up a game camera and I hope to catch this jerk and kick his ass.  It’s not a lot of gas, but still, he’s stealing from ME.  I know this is happening because my gas cap is off or loose at times.  I’d like to shoot him in the ass, but that would get me in more trouble than him.

Tori leaves for Florida soon, a little over a week I think and we will be picking up Erin during her absence so the other people have no clue that she left.  Tori is going with Debra.  I used air miles to pay for the flight just to get Tori out of here for a much needed vacation.

The forest service is shutting down the Santa Fe National Forest in sections because of the draught.  I’m sick and tired of the dust and the wind.  I hope the monsoon season is severe enough to eliminate all this draught shit.  We need rain, snow, sleet, hail, or whatever brings us moisture.

Rumor going around the valley is that I’m buying a backhoe.  I’ve had 3 people ask me if I’d lend it to them.  I asked them why they thought I’d lend them a backhoe when I won’t lend them my tractor, which is a much simpler and easier piece of equipment.  IF I were to buy any equipment like that, I would use the same policy that I use for all my tools, NO LENDING OF TOOLS.  Dumb asses.

Peace.

I’m Bored.

I have no idea why, but I’m bored.  Bored more than usual.  I’ve been looking at new vehicles to help relieve some of my boredom.  Stopped at the Toyota dealer and Jeep place today to poke around without my salesmen being there.  I called to make sure.

Going with Nina to Toyota and possibly take a longer test drive of the FJ Cruiser.  I’m getting the feeling that Nina’s leaning to the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but I’m probably wrong.  I went to the Jeep store and sat in the G.C. and found it quite pleasant, but they only have the 6 cylinder there now.  It is very well equipped but it’s still a 6 cylinder.

The Toyota has a lot more power than my Jeep and the Jeeps that I looked at.  Still a 6 banger, but it’s 4.0 liter.  Yeah, I know.  The Toyota is more comfortable, wider than all the Jeeps.

Erin Today & Weird Shit.

We did the car thing together today.  She was unimpressed with anything and eventually just waited in the car.  Don’t worry, I left the window cracked.  Afterwards we stopped at B.K. and took the food to a park near the mall.

Mostly it was a nice time, but there was a “dog incident” that caused yelling and profanity between 2 other park attendees.  One had his dog leashed and other didn’t.  Leash guy started yelling at me to leash my dog and I meekly explained to him that it wasn’t my dog.  He demanded to know whose dog it was and I ignored him in a gentle and kindly manner.  He came closer and I indicated to him that I wasn’t interested in discussing things with him anymore.  I picked up a rock about the size of a baseball.

He went to his car and put his dog away and took out a back pack, which I assumed had a gun in it by the way it was sagging.  Since he put it on his back I decided not to retrieve one of my guns from my gun safe.  On his way back to rationally discuss things with me, he realized that the dog belonged to an older gentleman and he veered off to confront the true offender of the park’s leash law.

Profanity ensued and I started to get Erin packed away.  When she was safely in the Jeep, I walked up behind the loudmouth and watched him to make sure he didn’t start pounding on the old guy.  The old guy just packed up his dog and left while telling the loudmouth to perform an impossible sex act upon himself.

OK, not so boring on the surface, but it really did nothing for me.  I’m bored with drama.  It was all drama.  Erin and I spent the drive home talking.  Actually, Erin spent the time talking.

Yesterday, Erin and I went to Villanueva State Park and played there and afterward hiked down the river.
