Just a former garbageman living in New Mexico selling crap to tourists and locals alike.

Heading home tomorrow early.

  1. Not sure how early, but it will be early.
  2. Last box emptied.  Just a few pieces of jewelry really.
  3. The vault attendant said that she hadn’t been in that box for years.
  4. The last bank’s paperwork can be done at any branch, including Santa Fe.
  5. ML was mad at us for leaving her at the rehab center.  She wants to leave now.
  6. Not sure if we’ll make it to Arrow’s Ridge for dinner Saturday.

Addendum to the earlier posting

Found the key to the mystery box.  ML told me and the lawyer that there was only 8 boxes, so when I found 8 keys, I stopped looking for keys.  The key was where it belonged, just under some paper.  Will check on Thursday what is in this box.

Found other stuff in the condo including a ring that other family members were curious about.  Big diamond.

Today’s plans and tales of yesterday.

  • Today is a patient conference at the rehab center.  Should only take about 15 minutes and then we’ll stop in and see ML.
  • ML has the flu and has been isolated from the general population.  OR they SAY she has the flu, but they really isolated her because she bit another patient.
  • Just my thinking.
  • Going back to the condo to see if we can find another safe deposit box key.  The bank swears she has another box, but her records show that that the box in question was closed out.  We may have to have that box drilled out.
  • The boxes that we did empty contained mostly papers, family records of various sorts.  Birth and death records, diplomas, deeds of properties long sold, insurance documents from 1937 on, a few old pictures, tax records, and similar shit.  There was some jewelry, but nowhere near the 7 boxes of jewelry that ML claimed.  If you remember, the story was 1 box of paperwork and 7 boxes of jewelry.  Not.
  • Nina and my mom spent a half hour going through the stuff and Mom was unimpressed over the haul.
  • Maybe the above mentioned mystery box will hold the rest of the hoard?
  • Went to dinner with one of my moderators and her b/f.  Nice night out and I enjoyed meeting her.
  • The trailer is almost completely loaded.  Just enough room for soft packing, clothes and the like for her once she’s in NM.  We’ll pack them in trash bags rather than luggage so they fill the voids nicely and the clothing will be washed once we get it home.
  • I am amazed at the capacity of that little trailer and I don’t regret buying it.  We’ve used it for hauling product from Sam’s Club and other local trips for store supplies or repair materials.
  • Dat’s all folks.

Wow.

Found today:

  • 234 savings bonds on the table.
  • Bunch of silver.  Trays and candle thingies.
  • Old classic books.  Byron, Keats, Tolstoy, and the rest.
  • Knick-Knacks that Nina has to take home.
  • More jewelry of questionable worth.
  • Lots of trash.  Lots.

That woman feels that she is not a hoarder.  Hoarders collect junk, her stuff ain’t junk.   She has notes all over the place, notes that have no real purpose other than to write shit down.  I think she’s been loopy for many more years than we were aware of.

30 Years With Nina

Today marks 30 years of marriage to Nina.  I have to say that there is no one that I can think of that could put up with me like her.  I know I’m not easy and I try to keep things on an even keel, but I’m still not the easiest person to deal with.

Tomorrow we leave for Ouray and 6 days of playing in that area.  After that our plans are flexible.  Flexible to me = “Glen’s screwing with my mind” to Nina.  While I like doing that to her, the uncertainty of our business is why no plans are made yet.  I am thinking of several places for the second portion of our vacation, but mentioning them here could ruin the surprise.

Our party was great.  Of all the invitees, only one couple didn’t show.  He called with some half-assed excuse about being in the hospital that day for some minor problem that he had that day.  Something about stones or passing or kidney and pain and peeing and stuff.  Sounds all made up to me.  My ex-friend Don and his bride didn’t show either, but they called 10 days prior to give me their PPP excuses.  More hospital and surgery stuff.  If any of you see or talk to Don, tell him I hate him.  Thanks.  Oh and if you mention that he’s very ugly it would make me smile.

The day started off cool and cloudy with the threat of rain, but it cleared about an hour before the party started and warmed up nicely.  Arrow’s Ridge did a great job with this party and we’ll do any future party there any time.  It was a lot less work for us and it was flawless.  Thanks Joe, Anni, Steven, Julie, Gloria, Mark & Tim.

Mom, Carl, Beth & Nancy joined us for the party.  It was great to see you here and I really appreciate the effort it took to join us for this event.  Carl, your great sacrifice of flying on a gas powered kite to get here deserves special mention.  That horrid experience added to the fact you never mentioned it or complained about the crude travel experience proves to the world that the Post Family is made of some strong stuff.

Peace everyone!
