Yeso

Our little day trip to Yeso, pronounced yay-so, which means white rock or gypsum. We did 261 miles on this little jaunt into history. This was Nina’s first trip to Yeso. Only thing we would do different, would be to bring a lunch.

Breakfast meet up @ Sombrero’s Restaurant in Las Vegas, NM

Yesterday’s ride marked the mid-point of my weekend of milage.  All told I expect to finish the weekend of riding at about 750 miles. Today’s ride is with Nina and her alone. Not sure where we will ride, but we will ride. Friday, we rode to the No Scum (see previous post), and yesterday we rode to Las Vegas for a breakfast ride.

I was tracking my milage just to determine what kind of milage I can expect on my ride to Holland to visit Mom, and I am getting about 40 m.p.g. on the bike.

For those that may be interested, the route I’m considering can be viewed here. That still may change, but probably not much. It has a nice mix of highway and backroads. I’ve talked with several people about this route and one of them is a photographer & writer for HOG magazine and he does these type of rides for Harley-Davidson.

Peace.

For Sale

Well, I sit here waiting for the new realtor to stop by and Nina and I will sign the contracts to put this place on the market, again. Different person, same agency. This new guy is their business specialist. The company, Keller Williams is the best in the area. We’ll see what happens this time.

Bumper Stickers I enjoyed

If you have to ask, you don’t know me.
Yep. Makes sense.
Most dogs are this way.
Oh yeah.
I may have done this on occasion.
Huh?
For all the feminists I know.
Sounds like a plan!
X 2.
We can hope.
Done this without the sticker.
Roll up your windows so I don’t have to hear it.
But I’m the only one that listens to me.
If you can read this….
Seven years and counting.
In too many states.
I’ve actually told people this. Sorry Mom, you’d have to have been there.
I need this for my Harley.

A Little Story

In 1991, at the end of Desert Storm, a 19 yr. old US Army Cavalry Scout Private who had just spent 8 months at war sat out on a street at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia.

He sat there on his duffle bag with his Battalion around him for 4 days waiting for the buses to come and take him to the King Fahad Airport so he could go home.

Unfortunately, the politicians of the day never planned for how to bring so many soldiers home after the war ended so there was a shortage of planes. Politicians are great at talking, but terrible at doing.

Finally, the buses came, and took the young man to the airport. The planes waiting were from Tower Air. The owner of Tower Air had volunteered his planes and staff to bring soldiers home for the cost of fuel only.

Happily, the young veteran got home just in time for Easter weekend in 1991, and spent that time emotionally healing with friends and family surrounding him.

That Private was me.
