375 miles

Nina and I took off at 8:30 this morning and headed north. After a quick breakfast stop in Vegas, we hit I-25 to Raton. Our main destination was the Sugarite Canyon State Park.  As you can see, we made it there. This is all part of the Santa Fe Harley-Davidson State Park Challenge that we’ve been playing. I believe this is our 10th state park. Only 23 or so to go.

What a nice ride we had getting here. Still in NM and we have Colorado like scenery.

See, Nina is still alive and with me!

Not sure why people do selfies, they seldom seem to be flattering. I guess this one is the exception.

Leaving Sugarite, we headed south to Folsom, a reputed ghost town. It turns out that it’s not a total ghost. It was worth the trip to see it and the route had some beautiful scenery. While Folsom has non-ghost types living there, as you can see, it’s pretty much a ghost town. Very quaint place though.

We finally arrived home about 4:00. It was a nice ride and other than a bee sting received by Nina during the ride, it went smoothly. No rain, not too hot, and not too cool. Good day.

Stuff

  • Did not sleep well again.
  • Did get my gun and mag yesterday. For some reason they felt the need to remove my grips and they stripped the grip bushings on both sides, the top ones on each side.
  • Ordered new bushings.
  • While the gun is naked, I gave it a bath and oiled the crap outta it. Smooth as silk.
  • HOG meeting today.
  • Met with the Motor Maids at the dealership yesterday. They are coming out en mass in July. 300 women on bikes wearing white leather and white gloves. It should be a sight to see. We’ll take them on rides of the area.
  • While I was bushing shopping yesterday, I saw a really neat coach gun. Double barreled 20 gauge. Nice short shotgun, easily maneuverable in tight spaces. Might need to consider that as a Christmas present for myself. I would prefer one with external hammers, but they seem to be made by the crappy manufacturers only. Prefer quality.
  • Hope to ride today.

Good news and no haircuts

Well, I’m sure the haircuts are top in your concerns in this posting so I won’t leave you hanging. We did not get our haircuts yesterday. Cynthia was a no show. We waited for 15 minutes and then we both headed home. I’m still a bit shaggy.

The good news is that I get my 1911 back today! I could have had it back already, but the release didn’t include the magazine. You may be thinking “big deal, it’s only a magazine, buy another” but that won’t work in this case. The magazine in question is a Devel mag and they are now very scarce. The manufacturer was either murdered or committed suicide (depends who you believe) and the patent fell into limbo.  Anyway, that’s all sorted out and I get the gun and mag, but no bullets. I may have a few rounds that I can put into the gun if needed.

The gun will be put into retirement and I will only shoot it for recreational purposes. That gun is slated to be given to Andy when I am ready and I won’t place it in risk again. It will reside in my gun safe until it becomes his. I’ve owned it for 43 years and I hope Andy enjoys it as long.

Well, there’s a HOG meeting tomorrow at 10:00 at the dealership. Only 3 more for the year before we have new people involved for 2016. I believe that I will retain my position since everyone tells me I make the newsletter fun to read.

For those that care, Levy made it to Guatemala and I got a postcard and email from that little fucker this week. I think I need to kill him.

May ride today, but it is cloudy. I will make that decision once I’m ready to leave.

Haircut

  • Andy and I are going for haircuts today.
  • Afterwards I have a meeting with the county manager.
  • After that he and I both are meeting with the city people about the joint marketing campaign.
  • It appears that I stirred up some shit with a few of the city people in an email I sent to the marketing committee about one of the city’s representatives lack of communication.
  • It also appears that I can’t be cut from the committee unless the county manager agrees, which he won’t.
  • Should be a fun meeting.

FOUR OLD ITALIAN LADIES

These four older ladies who lived in Naples, Italy, always sat outside together near the church and chatted about when they were younger.

One month ago they pooled their money together and bought a laptop. Never having been, but having heard all about Florida, they just happened to click on St. Augustine , FL. They read about the “Fountain of Youth” claimed by the Spaniards when they arrived there. They collected up all they had left and sent for four bottles of the water. As soon as it arrived, they drank as directed. The rest of this story will make you a believer, because here they are today………………
