Environment Department Visit

Steve, from the state E.D., stopped by yesterday and confirmed my suspicion that they were going to condemn our septic tank. With that bad news came good news too. He’s open to a smaller volume combination than Rudy thought he would be. He said that they’d ignore the living quarters’ waste stream and just use the flow from the store, which is quite a bit larger than the upstairs.

Tomorrow I head to Alb. for H.O.T. or HOG Officer Training. Nina is rumored to go with me for this but will be excluded from the meetings and training. There is a party on Friday night with morning classes on Saturday.

Sunday, Nina gets picked up by Andy or Tori, while I will be winging it east for a visit with Mom. Looking forward to seeing her and a few friends while there.

More Other Stuff

The marketing committee I’ve been dealing with for the past 18 months recently got savaged in the local paper by some that feel that we should have used a local firm to brand the area and provide advertising for us. I just saw on the news that Santa Fe is also getting flack for doing the same. They are using a Boston company while we used a Tennessee company.

To me it seems that local firms just assume that they have an advantage in the bidding process, but with dwindling funding, we too have to shop smarter. The bids from local firms that we reviewed did not show adequate knowledge of the area and the examples that were shown should have been their “best” efforts, but what we saw was lacking. Tennessee came in with their A game and the finished product was amazing. Sorry, but I can’t show the finished product until sometime next week.
