I thought I was done with this. . .

Once again I got a notice that Romero is going to be in court for a status hearing. I have to be there. It’s not mandatory, but I feel the need to show up in court until it’s finally over. I’ll keep you informed.

Status Hearing Update: His attorney used this hearing as a ploy to get him released. First she says there’s no bed for him at the VA, then she claims that a bed will be available in April. Then she asks for his release until the bed is available because he’s been in the county jail for over a year! Poor baby. She tried to make it sound like Romero was the victim in this whole thing. The prosecutor and the judge weren’t falling for her shit. He stays in jail until he gets into drug rehab.

I did learn that the VA program is a 6 month lock down program and then he’ll be allowed to leave as long as he continues with the program. If he screws up, he’s have to serve the remainder of 6 years in prison. I’m pretty sure that will be the case.

His mother was there again. After the hearing, I just sat there for 10 minutes to let her vacate the premises  before I left. Last time I had to talk to her for 30 minutes before I could leave. She told me how good of a mother she was and how I was wrong about Zebbie.  He’s really a good boy.
