Lots of empty dates in the calendar to the left. I’ll try and catch you all up.
We went on the trip with the HOG rally. The 2 days at my home dealer were pretty fun, but a lot of work.
The ride to Durango was just Nina and I. Nina’s request because it was our anniversary weekend and it was a different route than the group was riding and it was the route we took the first time we went to Ouray after we moved here. It made sense.
Durango was a nice time. Great hotel. Good food. Great times with friends. It was nice!
The ride from Durango to Grand Junction started great and was great for most of the trip, but nearing Grand Junction we heard Fritz ask if anyone lost a shift lever? Crap, it was me. We pulled over and part of the group went looking for the lever and a couple of us stayed and worked on the bike. Just a guess, but it looked like the group walking found the lever about ¾ of a mile down the road and it took the 45 minutes to find it.
Once we had the part, it was a 10 minute job to make the repair and hit the road again. H/T to Gerald, who stopped and helped. Harley riders are great people!
Since we had minimal tools and a dealership in Grand Junction that isn’t open weekends, I felt more comfortable leaving the tour after Grand Junction. We passed on the party and sat at the hotel and had dinner and drinks. I was very sore after sitting on the ground fixing the bike.
To Grand Junction Harley-Davidson; ARE FREAKING MORONS OR SOMETHING? YOU HAVE 500 BIKERS NEXT DOOR TO YOUR SHOP AND YOU ARE CLOSED? DO YOU REALIZE THE LOST REVENUE? BIKES NEEDING SERVICE? MOTOR CLOTHES? SOUVENIRS? STUPID FUCKS!
After dinner and drinks, we found out that JJ was returning home too, so we coordinated our leaving with him. We found that the fastest route turned out to be one of the most beautiful routes of our trip.
We stopped in Alamosa and JJ continued home.
The hotel had 1 room available. A suite. Expensive but a great room. It turns out that Alamosa is a destination for bus tour groups and the hotels are constantly booked. They have the tourist trains pulling out of the town.
We found a great restaurant, Hunan Palace, and had the best Chinese food we’ve had in years. It was amazing!
We left Alamosa about 8:30 and got to Santa Fe at 11:30 and stopped at the dealership to get a replacement part for my spare that I used to fix my bike.
I also gave everyone there a rash of shit about selling me a defective bike and how the part flew off the bike and bounced down the highway and went through the windshield of a car and killed the nun that was driving handicapped children to church and the resulting crash killed the poor kids, but once again, I was not believed.
We made it home in good time and I’m going to ignore the bike today since it’s supposed to rain today.
Going to town shortly to get parts for the garage door.
