So our surveillance system went tits up. Going to the system’s support site, I found that we’ve had it for 13 years.
I ordered a new one for $1000 less repeat customer discount. I can’t remember what the amount of the discount, but that’s not important.
Our old system had 8 cameras. Our new system has 18 cameras.
Why the increase? Over the past 13 years, the intrusions to our property has grown quite a bit and I wish to increase the coverage of the outside areas.
I will add cameras to cover the side gate, the gas tank, the old playground area, the back of the building in several locations, the carport, and both the kid’s homes.
Currently I’m using the old cameras on the new DVR. The new cameras and monitor arrive today, they say. Andy and I will be installing them, with Andy doing the climbing and adjusting since he’s young with good knees.
I am actually posting old news here for the most part. I waited until I had it recording until this got written. No sense letting the shitheads know we were without, right? Since the old cameras worked on the new system, I up and running mostly.
I also plan on putting 2 wireless cameras on the pole light by the pumps to show the front of the store and the park & ride lot. Most of the trouble that ends up here seems to start in the park & ride. They will have to wait until I get some new wiring to the top of the pole light. The question, as always, hire an electrician or do it my way? Most likely I’ll do it my way and then have an electrician do it right when I have to hire one next time.
At least I know where the breaker switch is for the pole light and I don’t have to to it with live power on top of a ladder.
