I’m supposed to pick up Nina today.

11:25 is when she lands. Trouble is I have previous plans in the morning. Pilates, breakfast, driving somewhere . . . . doing . . . something with . . . Erin or Tori. I guess I’ll take Erin and bring her with me to Pilates and then see if I can squeeze Nina into my schedule after Pilates.

I’m sure that Erin would love lunch at the big Burger King.

Strange day yesterday. Poaching busts in the area with the game cops meeting here in the parking lot. Erin has a tendency to get paper cuts. I told her to stay away from knives. I’m contemplating a no check policy here. I know that at my bank if you have a checking account, you get a debit card. By not taking checks it will force them to use the debit card and eliminate the bounced check issue.

I’m thinking of taking my small trailer in when I head east at the end of the month. Still some stuff I want from ML’s place.

Body Found in TX.

The police department in the small hill country town of Fredericksburg , TX who reported finding a man’s body last Saturday in the early evening in the Pedernales River near the state highway-87 bridge. The dead man’s name would not be released until this family had been notified.

The victim apparently drowned due to excessive beer consumption while visiting “someone” in Kerrville . He was wearing black fishnet stockings, 4 inch spiked heels, a red garter belt, a pink G-string, purple lipstick, dazzle dust on his eyelids, 2 1/2 inch false eyelashes and an Obama T-shirt.

The police removed the Obama T-shirt to spare his family any unnecessary embarrassment.

Huh?

I wake up this morning to a couple state pickup trucks in my lot. Start my bath, take a leak, start my coffee and look out the window and see more state pickup trucks. Enviro people? Cops? Are they going to grade my parking lot?

I get dressed and wander out while my tub is filling. Everyone’s carrying sidearm. Must be cops but the vehicles aren’t right. “Good morning.” Scared the crap outta them, one even had his gun out and I’m sure if he fired he’d have hit one of his buddies.

Livestock and Fish and Game officers in some sort of joint operation decided that my parking lot was the perfect place to meet. Stupid people. One person from the village that would see them as the drive to work and the jungle drums start beating.

LE is always welcome on my place. I’ve told them before that they’re free to use the back area for meets, but they insist on doing things in plain view. It’s like they want the locals to be warned.

Never push a loyal person to the point where they no longer give a damn.

Tick tock ~ tick tock ~ tick tock

Everyone remember to change your clocks? Spring forward, fall back. I forgot! I wish NM would join AZ in dumping this time change crap.

Erin

Should I pick her up?  Should I have Tori pick her up? Too early to make decisions. Last week we went hiking together, but she decided to wade in the waterfall and I had to drive a half naked kid home covered up only a towel. I wonder how that would have played out if the cops pulled me over for something.

Dennis

I heard from Dennis last night. He was parked at a hotel in Lexington KY for the night. He got the new iPhone 5 and loves it. He’s learning the thing slowly, but for a former luddite he’s doing great. He’s blogging about his trip. Owns a Macbook Pro. Once a luddite turns, they turn hard!

Nina

She still hasn’t returned home to me. We talk almost daily, but I can’t seem to talk sense into her. NINA!  Come home!

Over dramatic? Probably. She’s seen ML and she wants to come home to NM and to be here by Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving here will be a non-event. The meal will either be at Arrow’s Ridge or picked up from there. It will be just Nina and Tori, and we all know how much ML loves Tori.

I’ll visit her when I’m in for Thanksgiving and tell her what the new rules will be IF she is allowed back. I doubt she’ll like them.

I freaking knew this would happen.

Weather

It’s been very nice here lately, but the weatherliars are predicting a turn for the worse. Possible snow and rain and cold and wind and pestilence and plaque. Gotta cover all bases when you’re a weatherliar. The only things they didn’t cover was sunny and warm, so I guess I’ll dress for them.

Weather edit!

Crap, it’s clouding up. I hate when you can’t count on things being the way they should! Weatherliars are always wrong, or at least mostly wrong. It sucks when the nail this shit.

General

Well, I’ve had my coffee and a tiny breakfast burrito and since I’ve started typing this I’ve made the decision that Tori is waiting to hear. I’ll tell her in person, later.

I’m going to Santa Fe  to run some errands as soon as Sh’s caretaker gets here. I need some RidX and drain cleaner and of course I always enjoy a visit to a big box home improvement store. Doesn’t everyone?

I keep thinking of the new iPad and I think I need to check it out at the Apple store to make a decision whether I need one or not. I’m thinking of waiting since I really don’t need a new toy . . . . . yet.

Oh well, I’m tired of trying to think of things to write here, so . . .

Guns don’t kill people, people that can’t fight kill people.

Fort Union

I went for a long walk at Fort Union today. 60 miles from me, but it was a nice drive and the walk was very nice. This park has almost 2 miles of groomed trails and there’s no elevation changes like at Pecos.

After Fort Union, I had lunch in Vegas.

Saturday!

Not that it means anything to me anymore . . . this 7 day a week business shit means every day is the same.

Yesterday, Joe and I went to the hacienda and while he was metal detecting, I was hiking and taking pictures. See below. The last 2 trips in that area with Nina left us unable to find the hacienda so I went hi-tech in my search. I went to Google Earth and found it on there, copied down the coordinates and entered them into my GPS in the Jeep. Found it first try.

Nothing was found by Joe and had he found anything it would have been photographed and replaced for others to find. He told me that there was too much surface trash to find anything below ground.

The hacienda has been fenced off and that’s what caused my problems in my prior attempts to find it. There are gates that allow access, but the fence threw me. I have it in my GPS now, so there’s no problems getting there now.

Holy Schnit, It’s November Already!

  • November 1st and I’m just not feeling it yet. Fall is speeding by and winter is chugging in and frankly I can’t see me enjoying winter much this year.
  • Nina never calls me anymore.
  • I stopped by the county manager’s office yesterday to see if he wanted to do lunch, but he couldn’t.
  • We spent 40 minutes talking about lodger’s tax problems and my upcoming presentation before the commission.
  • As I was leaving I turned and told him we could have gone to lunch in the amount of time we were talking.
  • Got a haircut today. I like having a female barber.
  • I did fish and chips for lunch at Dick’s. Charlotte, the bar owner, was in a bride of Frankenstein costume.  As I left I quipped “Decided against a costume this year I see.” and her 2 employees flinched. She laughed and wished me a nice day. She’s got a rep as a dragon lady with her help.
  • The place is too quiet without Erin.
  • I’m not shaving until Nina gets back and then I will not shave for another week.
  • Thank God the world series is over. It was nice that Boston took it, but I still hate sports on TV.
  • Today Joe and I are heading backcountry with our metal detectors to try and find a group of ruins to see what we can find. I plan on hitting the walls and he’ll do the floors.
