- Well, sleep evaded me again last night. I will be napping later today in an effort to stay sane.
- No rain here yesterday. There was some brief thundershowers in Las Vegas , but nothing here.
- I got a call yesterday from someone that needs some papers notarized. It appears that I am the only local notary that is willing to travel to the customer that is unable to travel.
- Of course I charge more for this service, but people don’t seem to mind. On Friday I’ll be riding my bike up the Pecos Canyon, one of northern NM’s most scenic drives, and I’ll be getting paid for the privilege. Not a bad deal.
- Erin is unusually well behaved this visit with us. It’s funny really since the Herns state that she has nothing but attitude and anger while there.
- We don’t tolerate her attitude and while everyone gets angry at times, we don’t tolerate anger as a tactic to get her way.
- She’s even listening to Tori. I know, shocking!
- The new employee is working out fine it appears. I may have to start remembering his name soon. Such a bother.
- I’ve started a new regimen for Henry 2. Since he’s not much of a self starter, I now give him a list of shit to do with times in red to be done today. Items in black are things that he needs to do soon.
- It seems to be working.
- People are moving out of the valley again. I’m jealous. It should be interesting to see what the new residents bring to the area.
- Just heard on the news that the Inn of Las Vegas burned down yesterday evening. I suspect arson since the building has been boarded up for years. No luck in selling the place, so ya might as well burn it, right?
- August 12th I make another presentation before the county commission. Lodger’s tax awards. I was told to expect some tough questions from one of the commissioners about why we give so much to Pecos and not to the rest of the county. I’m prepared and not worried.
- I saw an interesting new product being pimped for investors yesterday. Check it out at Jibo if interested. It’s a very interesting item that is geared to the techie among us. They used one of those crowd sourced funding websites and were shooting for somewhere between $100,000 to $200,00 and they’re almost at $1.5 million so far. You really need to see the video on the website. I think you will either think it’s very cool or very creepy.

From Mom. So True.
red light camera letter
I found this on the interwebz and decided to save it here, at the same time sharing it with you all.
To Whom it May Concern,
I received a letter claiming I committed a violation of a speeding law in the District of Columbia on 04/21/2012. As per the instructions, I am writing to plead ‘not guilty’ to this charge. Although this option is said to result in this matter going to court; it is my suggestion that the charges simply be dropped. This suggestion comes out of respect for tax payers, and my request that their hard earned money not be wasted in such proceedings. As there is no evidence of my involvement with this alleged ‘crime’, as well as the fact that I am not granted my 6th amendment right to face my ‘accuser’ (a camera); I see no way the government could prove my guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. I also see find no legal requirement for me to implicate someone else in this process, as it is the government’s responsibility to prove a person’s guilt. It is also my 5th amendment right to remain silent on the matter.
If it is the government’s decision to move forward in this matter, I would request copies of any evidence the prosecution may have of my involvement in the “offense”; as well as, all maintenance records for the camera(s) involved.
Sincerely,
Nathan Cox
United States Army Veteran
The author of the letter states that his charges were dismissed without having to go to court in the matter.
