Hanging around the place today

Longmire is filming in the area again and their location manager is stopping by to talk to me about using the campground area for staff parking and staging again. Real nice money for 1 day usage of empty land! They wanted the empty field again, but the fiber optics company is renting that area already.

I also have someone else coming to talk to me, but I’ll be damned if I can remember who or why.  CRS.

I was invited to ride down to Fort Sumner, but I’m tied here. I haven’t been to Fort Sumner for quite a while and I would have loved to make that run. There’s a cool museum down there that I’ve mentioned here before. Maybe next week.

Been a while

I have missed posting for several days. Nothing of note to post so it’s no big deal, I guess.

I was in the garage yesterday and noticed that the bike needed some attention, which I didn’t give it. Dirty! 1400 miles with rain mixed with road grime makes dirty the norm.

Yesterday I spent the day at home. Didn’t do a stinking thing. I was under the weather. I know why but I won’t go into it. I’m feeling much better today.

Today I may take care of the dirty bike and stop into the shop to see what the status is of my training classes. Last I heard it would be June sometime, but they’re trying to find one earlier. In order for SFHD to keep the same level of new riding classes as previous years, they’ll need to train at least 3 new rider coaches.

It’s done.

HOT is done.. It was very good.

  • Some good workshops.
  • Saw some people from last year.
  • Had some good food.
  • And some not so good meals
  • Drank way more than normal.
  • I can tell you that Las Vegas doesn’t hold the same appeal as when I was younger.
  • Just got to head home now. 600 + miles.
  • Gambled some.
  • Was up, until I gambled again.
  • I was even from when I arrived when I quit.
  • No loss, no gain. Entertained for a couple of hours though.

Great Ride, Good Times

  • we had a nice ride here, but we could have made it faster than we did.  One of our group insists on riding the speed limit 5 over makes him nervous, plus he doesn’t have a windshield on his bike.
  • Others insist on stopping to pee. Each stop is almost guaranteed to take 30 minutes..
  • I’ve been here for several hour now and haven’t stopped to gamble. I’m hoping for tonight.  David, the store owner gambles and will probably join me. I hope my luck has turned to the good finally.
  • Just finished talking to another HOG member while writing this.  She’s from Bakersfield California. So far I’ve been talking to Californians, Michiganders, Texans, Arizonians, Coloradoans, and others I didn’t ask.  I’m having a ball.

We made it to Flagstaff Arizona.

It was a long hard ride to Flagstaff, but we made it. I’m in bed already at 6:55 PM and I’m ready for sleep already but I know I can’t sleep otherwise I’m in trouble later on.

Rick led the ride today, I lead the ride tomorrow.  I don’t have my computer so everything I’m doing on the blog and the family board is on my iPad using voice to text technology. It’s pretty cool but it makes mistakes and I have to proofread everything prior to posting it.

Tomorrow when we ride we will make it to Vegas. We are stopping in Kingston for hamburgers at in and out burger. Natalie’s making us do it.

Vegas Bound

Leaving on the Harley to Vegas Wednesday morning. A group of 6 of us are leaving Santa Fe @ 8:00 a.m. We meet the store owners there on Thursday. Training starts on Friday and finishes on Saturday. We head towards home on Sunday morning. I may make a side trip to Phoenix to visit with Lou Dawson. He’s been pretty down since Perry died. I’ll talk to Nan on Thursday to see what she thinks.
