The bar code or QR code that is used for you to board an airplane can contain more data than you think. It’s been reported that they can contain your credit card info including the whole number, the 3 digit code on the back and your expiration date.
All it takes is a code reader app on your cell phone to capture this data. I have one of those apps on my phone and it came as part of my AT&T phone plan that I got years ago. Even if this data is encrypted, a good identity thief would have the necessary tools to decrypt the data.
Safest way to keep your data secure is to take the ticket home with you and shred it. In theory, the data will drop from the database after a couple of days, but why take the chance?
I have to be at SFHD @ 10:00 for a meeting and at 10:30 I take about 15 to Fort Union. First we stop for lunch in Las Vegas, and then we head to the fort.
Nina got another dog. This one is white. His name is Maxwell. Maggie and Maxwell play well together. I haven’t seen it, but I believe Nina. He doesn’t have Maggie’s personality, but it is his first day here.
Yes I’m doing this. It should be a real madhouse. the sponsors are estimating between 200 – 400 bikers to attend. We don’t have enough road captains. The store’s event’s coordinator was been MIA while training for her new job, but she’s supposed to be there today. We’re supposed to lead them to the #1 spot for suicide in NM, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Depending on how this goes, I may jump.
It’s a good cause, but RT needs to realize our limitations. We only have a small # of road captains.
Since we’re in a no rain pattern lately, this is anticipated by most people. I think I heard that we’ve had 100+ days without measurable moisture. I guess we need it, so I’ll leave my bike parked today.
I’ve cut back on the Scrabble and WWF games I’ve been playing. I’ll pick up the slack later, but right now I am just going to stay at the current level.
This weekend was have 2 rides happening. I’m not looking forward to the Saturday ride, there’s supposed to be 200 to 400 riders on that ride and the dealership’s event coordinator is in training for a new job and her replacement/assistant is too new to deal with that many people.
The Sunday ride is a chapter ride and we’re doing lunch in Las Vegas and having a tour of Fort Union near Watrous. This should be a fun ride.
I hurt my knee on Saturday. It’s feeling better each day.
I worked the SFHD dealer demo ride event. It was fun.
I did not hurt my knee there. I did it walking up stairs.
I probably did about 60+ miles of demo rides Saturday.
It was hectic, but fun. Saw quite a few friends. Good times.
Maggie has accepted her place in our family. At the start, she was anxious when we left, but now she knows it’s all part of our lives and she’s fine with it. Her and Erin are very close, more so than Erin & Duh are. Maggie is such a gentle animal.
With Joe Griego back in custody, I’m now hoping he doesn’t get bail. He’s a junkie and when released he’ll need to get high and we stand to be the most logical place to get money.
Did you watch the Country Music Awards? I didn’t. I never watch those things. Country, Rock, or whatever, I am not interested. I only mention it because the news station I watch has been talking about that crap for the past 10 minutes. Dumb asses.
Nina’s starting to feel human again. Other than her morning coughing fit, she’s sounding downright healthy.
Today’s election comment: Mo matter who wins, we’re screwed.
Let’s roll it back a few years. Joe Griego broke into our store a few years back and stole our ATM. He did it in 47 seconds. I was impressed actually, but I still pressed charges. He got caught, arrested, offered a deal, turned it down, was convicted, sentenced to 7 years with no parole, and just got out a couple of months ago. We got a restitution check from him, $10, the first of many promised checks to reimburse us for our losses.
Coming back to today. A couple of weeks ago the Romeroville gas station was robbed at gunpoint. Today, Joe was arrested for that crime. It appears that he did not learn a lesson. It also appears that we will not be getting any more checks from him.
Since I’ve been carrying a pistol anytime I’m here, I’m glad he didn’t chose us to rob again.
