8500 gallons of gas coming tomorrow morning first thing! That should hold us for a few days. Talking to Ed, this is not going away soon. We can expect rationing to all stations in Northern NM for the next several weeks.

OTHER STUFF. . . .

I was out on the bike for several hours today, mostly running errands. I did stop at SFH-D this morning to find out how David was and was told that he was in surgery at that time. Plans to take him to Boulder o have his ankle rebuilt was shot down because the surgeon had no trauma experience. The surgeon in Taos was unavailable for some reason. The surgeon in Santa Fe just happened to be a biker and that made David comfortable having the surgery here.

Had lunch in Pecos today and enjoyed the special. Breakfast was in Las Vegas. Dinner?  Not sure yet, but I’m thinking it will include Andy and Debra. Nina’s working them like crazy.

Made a drug run to Vegas this AM because Nina forgot there were filled prescriptions at WallyWorld. No big deal, I took the bike. Nice day to ride. At breakfast I talked to other business men in the area, guys that are there daily but leave Nina and I to eat in peace. with her absent, they wanted to talk. Even months later people still ask questions about the shooting. Oh well.

I didn’t know they had the same problem 70 years ago.

For the last six odd years, almost all of the things I wanted to write or say, have been stymied by that modern term referred to as
‘POLITICAL CORRECTNESS’.. Although I considermyself reasonably fluent in English, that term was not in my vocabulary. Curiosity got the better of me so I decided to do a little research, and after two weeks of chasing fruitless leads, I found what I’d been looking for at the Truman Library and Museum in Independence Missouri. An unnamed source there sent me copies of four telegrams between then-President Harry Truman and Gen. Douglas MacArthur on the day before the actual signing of the WW2 Surrender Agreement in September 1945. The contents of those four telegrams below are exactly as received at the end of the war – not a word has been added or deleted!
